BOSS Miami - July 25th, 2015 - Competition Entry Fee

Product Description

July BOSS is here and it’s one your last chances this year to qualify for that Yung Legends Bracket spot. Come out to EmazingLights Miami’s Competition hosted at the NugBrand Clothing store on Saturday, July 25 to earn your spot among the Legends!

This will be Miami’s 3rd BOSS Competition and each time around, the tournament gets tougher and tougher. After a ridiculous Top 4 that included Vex, Infinite, Allay and Foxxy, expect an even bigger spectacle. We’re hearing rumblings of glovers flying in from all over, Jest from Minneapolis, Parrot from Kentucky, and making his 5th BOSS appearance in a row, Blastoff Sloth from Washington. And don’t sleep on the local talent: Bojangles, Lil Homie, Swirlz, Infinite and Allay are just a few of the faces expected to make an appearance.

The competitive gloving scene is getting crazy and this is one BOSS you won’t want to miss.

We were blown away by the incredible amount of fire and innovation you guys brought to the competitive scene in 2014. We started the year off by crowning two of our usual suspects as BOSS champions for the second time in their careers: (Ayo?) Boo in February, and then [PM] Rhapsode in April. The following two BOSS competitions made way for some of the lesser-known names, [Team Vivid] Toms and [FIK] Abstrakt dominated the field in July and October respectively.

Finally, we brought it all together for the fourth annual International Gloving Championship (IGC), where an exclusive Tournament of Legends solidified [PM] Ice Kream Teddy as the reigning gloving champion. This IGC title rounds out his 4 previous BOSS titles, making him the most decorated competitive glover out there. But who will change it all in 2015?

 New Score Card

As of May 2014, the Scorecard for BOSS and IGC has been changed to accommodate the new standard of what makes a great gloving light show.

There are three main categories Execution. Musicality, and Presentation.

  1. Execution is separated into tricks/transitions and lose points for poorly executed or repetitive ones.

  2. Musicality points are earned in three ways.

    1. Hitting the drop- 3 points – Glovers must adjust various aspects of their show when the song encounters a dramatic beat change (ex. From build up to drop)

    2. Story- 2 points- This is for showmanship. Glovers must begin and end their show as a show, not a cluster of moves.

    3. Flow – Glovers must do their best to appear as if their show is fluid and routine to the song

  3. Presentation points have three categories.

    1. Cleanliness- 5 Points- Measurement of how clean each glover was during their show

    2. Concept Variety- 5 Points- Measurement of glover’s versatility with different styles

    3. Use of space- 5 Points- Measurement of each glover’s use of their space and awareness of their audience.
