Don’t worry, we’ve got full video coverage of IGC coming soon, along with an event recap article, but for now I just wanted to share some amazing photos from our friend Jason Fenmore at Oh Dag Yo Photography.
This guy is a true professional, it takes skill to be able to tell stories through photo the way he does. I’m not sure if gloving has ever been shot so vividly.
[PM] Ice Kream Teddy took out the surprise runner up Machine, becoming the first ever back-to-back IGC Champion. When Socks made the announcement, all that could be heard throughout the Yost Theatre was his team’s battle cry, “PM! PM! PM!”
Machine came all the way out from Texas to compete in Legends. He was one of the very few glovers in the building who represented no teams. He fought all the way to the finals with some of the most unique concepts in the building, ultimately losing in a respectable finals match against Teddy.
Three out of the top 4 Legends glovers represented Puppet Masters [PM], including Rhapsode and Dunzo who took 3rd and 4th place respectively. Dunzo was the only fan-voted Legend to make it this far, especially surprising since he hasn’t been active in the gloving scene for about 2 years.
Open Tournament – Blue Zone Winners: 1st Place [ION] Slayer, 2nd Place [NL] TriggaHappy, 3rd Place [CC] Ahuh. Red Zone Winners: 1st Place [ION] Krusty, 2nd Place [T4S] Materia, 3rd Place [IM] Puppet. By defeating 63 of their fellow glovers, Slayer and Krusty each secured their spots in the evening’s Legends tournament and took home $250 cash prizes.
Animated J broke bones, joints and cartilages we didn’t even know existed for a wild crowd during the Open Tournament. The storytelling he exhibits in his dance is simply next level. If you were lucky you caught his workshop, or maybe he taught you a cool finger trick right as you sat down for your next match. He’s just that kind of a dude, an inspiration and an awesome community member.
People were just as stoked to see Dytto, the current queen of robotic animation and tutting. Over 70 people showed up to attend her workshop to learn her mysterious ways.
Just some dope light trail porn from Tranquil during the Open Tournament. The 19-year-old Tranquil made it into the IGC top 8 for the first time this year, and has plans to do even better than that next year.
The All Star Dance Battle after Legends featured Team Dytto (Blitzen, Sixshot, Rhapsode, Ice Kream Teddy) vs. Team Animated J (Cypher, Vex, Parrot, Serj)
Bear Grillz slaughtered us with a killer dubstep-heavy DJ set during Open Trade Time. He headlined for this day of awesome live music, with competition spins by our very own Sinder (a.k.a. [PLL] Mirage) and a guest DJ set to close out the day by Blitzen.
Gregg Lillie created the FaceMelt Crew 5 year ago. His legacy lives on today at festivals… just in purple jerseys!
If next year is even half as ridiculous as this year, I know I’ll be a happy glover. To all those who came from near and far, thank you all for sharing your lights! Alpha Jack out.
World's first gloving journalist. Give me a light show and I'll make you famous :P
