Hello Gloving Universe!!!!!!
Welcome back to my neck of the woods, where we talk a little about the glovers who grace our weekly Sunday Feature Videos. This week there is an absolutely palpable IGC fever in the air, and what a better way to kick off IGC Week than with a group performance by Style Over Everything.
This video includes, in order of appearance, yours truly [PM] Ice Kream Teddy, (Ayo?) Trippz, [TM] Serj and [MOB] Blitzen. The lineup features a melting pot of unique talents to combine into one video, which is probably why it worked so well. Diversity is always important when creating inspiration.
Now, you guys already know me, and if you read my last article on the Girls Who Glove “From the Shadows”viral video, you know the Style Over Everything co-founder, Blitzen, as well. That said, it’s time to meet the other co-founder, Trippz along with gloving powerhouse, Serj.
Trippz has been gloving since long before programmable chips were even a thought, and he has remained consistent with his unique light shows. Having won two BOSS competitions and placing high at IGC every year he has competed, there is no denying that his one-of-a-kind flow will always catch your eye as soon as he puts on the gloves. With a background in dance, Trippz is often referred to as one of the bridges between a glover’s and dancer’s understanding of a light show.
Last but certainly not least, we have Serj. If you have never seen a full show from this guy, don’t blink when you do. Serj is what we call a Concept Creator [CC], and every single glover on that crew is known for creating move after move after move after move. At a certain point, it’ll make your head spin better than a carousel going 40 miles an hour. Watch and learn, Serj will have you shivering long after he splashes down with all these ice cold moves.
The Ice Bucket Challenge wouldn’t even come close to the shivers you get after a Serj show.
Style Over Everything is a crew with one mission: remind the gloving community to put their own spin on whatever they’re cooking up in their light shows. Style Over Everything is also about taking gloving to new heights. It is about stepping away from the kneeling or sitting audience and exploring all the additional ways that we glovers can express ourselves.
For those of you that do not know, Style Over Everything [S>] will be performing alongside world class performers such as Dytto and Animated J between the rounds at IGC. I have a feeling this performance is going to be the first of its kind for glovers everywhere. I am not saying that this is the first time gloving has been on stage, but this is the first time it will be done for an audience of glovers and gloving enthusiasts.
It all goes down at IGC.
See you on October 10th at the Yost!
I haven't been good at these things since the PlurLife.com days when everyone just put their "festival resume" with all of the events they have been to. Long story short, I have been gloving since November 1st, 2008 and I have seen gloving go from finger lights and glow sticks to international publicity and Shark Tank notoriety... and I have an opinion about everything. (You have been warned)
