After taking 2nd place to his [PM] brother Rhapsode at February BOSS, and barely making the top 8 in May BOSS, [PM] Cypher was ready to hang up the gloves. Competitively, at least.
Even with four years of gloving experience and a reputation for being one of the most dangerous face melters in the scene, he just couldn’t crack a BOSS title. He told our sources that this would be his last appearance on the competitive circuit if he didn’t win it.
Luckily for him and his fans, this Sunday’s SoCal BOSS victory will keep him in the game, ready to face the stacked Legends roster at IGC.
“Other times I was trying too hard to win,” Cypher said. “This time I went in and had fun, and it worked for me.”
[HAH] Jumanji also had an awesome day, taking out (Ayo?) Abstrakt in the semi-finals. Abstrakt was the point leader from the morning’s open rounds, with Cypher down by a single point. The crowd was expecting an Abstrakt vs. Cypher grand final, but Jumanji shook things up when he defeated his masked opponent in the semi-finals.
Abstrakt took 3rd place in his consolation match against [PM] Gambit.
With this BOSS being the last one of the season, the following glovers have been invited to the 16-man IGC Legends Tournament, going down on Oct. 10 at the Yost Theater in Santa Ana, CA.
