A tracer bulbs is made up of two parts. The first is a micro dot strobe pattern with spacing in between. The second part is the "tracer" effect which is a solid color line that follows the strobe micro dots. No special housing kit is necessary to get the "tracer" effect so this bulb works in any casing.

Don't get me wrong, the bulb itself is really good and works perfectly. However, what I was looking for was what the picture portrayed. In person it looks like blue instead of purple and white instead of an orange esque Ww, and it threw off my color scheme.

Advice, if you're looking for specific color, go to the store and take the time to look through the bulbs instead of using the pictures as a reference. You'll be much more satisfied and won't possibly waste your money on something that will turn out to be something you didn't want.

But overall, a good bulb. I only wish that the store would just always trim the bulbs for you. I've managed to ruin half of my bulbs trying to trim the wires myself.
