There’s been no shortage of music celebrity-endorsed headphones as of late with plenty of big names backing products that well…don’t really live up to their hype. Let’s start with the bass-happy Beats by Dr. Dre, which were released with a professional grade price tag ($300-400), but performed more suitably for consumers with deep pockets. I’m not completely knocking them as they perform well and have notable noise cancelling capabilities, but I raise my eyebrows intensely when I notice more people using them while “working out” at the gym than on the decks or in the studio. Seriously, bro, I know you love that there Deadmeowfive, but wearing $400 headphones when doing eight sets of curls in the squat rack is pretty unnecessary.

Escape from Wonderland @ NOS Event Center
Nov 9th
Honestly, I’m not really a big fan of Halloween massives. I LOVE Halloween, I still love massives, but the combination? Not quite as much. The crowd gets a little more diluted with “general” party go-ers, you lose a lot of the free spirit amongst the ho(e)liday buzz, and as much as people do dress up in costumed garb for Oct. 31st events, I prefer the costumes at other massives throughout the year because it’s just so much less of a “requirement” at these other events, where people just dress up for the hell of it. But with that, October 29th saw THE biggest Halloween event in SoCal (and I can’t say for certain, but I’m pretty sure it was one of the largest in the country at 40,000+ attendees), and I wasn’t about to miss it.

Show Recap: Hard Summer 2011!
Aug 12th
Last year’s Hard Fest was arguably one of my favorite shows of 2011. The Los Angeles State Historic Park, right on the edge of Chinatown, served as an awesome venue. Large, spacious, plenty of grass on which to sit…overall, it contributed to just a really chill vibe. When people asked me about Hard, or didn’t know what it was and asked about the rave, I was comfortably able to reply that it felt more like a music festival than a rave. Sort of like just hanging out 24/7 at Coachella’s Sahara Tent. Gloves WEREN’T allowed, BUT they didn’t confiscate or care inside. It was just amazing to be able to give/get lightshows comfortably without being stood up by the “Get Up and Dance” Nazis!

Arty – Around the World
This song has been making its rounds for some time now in the live sets of Above & Beyond, Mat Zo, Tiesto, and Armin Van Buuren, but officially out Wednesday on Beatport.com, Arty’s ‘Around the World’ is killing the charts. At the young age of 21, Artem Stolyarov has been getting a lot of recognition over the past year, and with the continued exposure on podcasts and at festivals he is sure to keep exploding. Save the World (Zedd Remix) – New Electro Banger!
Jul 6th
Save the World – Swedish House Mafia (Zedd Remix)
Zedd, the 19-20 year old superstar whose original Doverngin and his remix of Skrillex’s Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites destroyed dance floors this year has done it again with this summer’s hottest song, Swedish House Mafia’s ‘Save the World.’ He took the catchy, vocal driven house song and turned it into an Electro banger with a heavy basslines and a grimy lead synth. Afrojack has been playing this out in his live sets recently to a huge success, and Zedd officially released it on MTV Records today. This is a big moment for electro fans because a release coming out on MTV’s label will mean more exposure than just the EDM world. Turn up your speakers and check out this Emazing remix!
IGC 2011 Recap!
Jul 5th
Hey everyone,
OmNam team[e] here checking in. I just wanted to give everyone little update with everything with IGC if you didn’t make it out or happen to see our IGC Recap video. Of course I first want to put out there that yes there were some bobbles, but if you were at the event, WOW. I’ve been in the scene for a few years now seeing light shows evolve, and the level of competition was absolutely insane. I haven’t seen Chris [Munch] in a few weeks because I know he’s been working a lot, but apparently he was sitting in front of his mirror with the lights off for all of those weeks.
After the jump check out the top 4 winners and the official IGC 2011 recap video!!

New Song: Electro/House Banger
Wolfgang Gartner ft. Will.i.am – Forever

Wolfgang Gartner, the electro-genius behind “Space Junk” “Wolfgang’s 5th Symphnony,” and “Undertaker” (all been #1 hits on Beatport) has teamed up with the Black Eyed Pea’s EDM minded Will.i.am to produce the summers new banger. With Wolfgangs classic complex-electro style, heavy basslines, and crunchy synths teamed up with Will.i.am’s catchy vocals, this song is sure to take off not only at events but with radio play as well. Check out this Emazing song!!
